Learning Mentor

Mrs Hill is our school Learning Mentor. Her primary role is helping children to overcome barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential. Mrs Hill works closely with children and their families to help raise self-esteem and confidence and develop a positive attitude to school and learning.

Mrs Hill liaises with the head teacher and class teachers to help identify pupils and families who would benefit from her help and support. She can offer parents/carers practical support and advice, signposting to other agencies where appropriate. She is available for parents/carers to speak to in a morning as a ‘listening ear’ to discuss any worries and treats all matters confidentially.

Mrs Hill organises activities for children in school such as leading the School Council, Playground Pal training and self-esteem group work. She also talks to children in school and is seen as a ‘grown-up’ friend to talk to about any worries.

In addition Mrs Hill monitors all aspects of attendance, absences and punctuality which can have an impact on a child’s learning and attainment.

At Bushfield Road Infant School we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our children.
